A typed transcription of the Falmouth, Maine official record. Book One, 132 pages, primarily concerns regular business minutes and publishments from October 1718 to April 1728. It also contains a listing of births from March 1712 to May 1738/9 and livestock ear-markings.
The Town of Falmouth is today within the jurisdiction of Cumberland County, Maine. During the period of these records, Falmouth was within York County, Massachusetts, and included the land now comprising the City of Portland.
Researchers wishing to examine the hand-written books from which this transcription was produced, may do so free of charge on FamilySearch; an online genealogical and local history repository. Registering for a free account is required to gain access. When logged-in, conduct a Catalog search by Place, entering "United States, Maine, Cumberland, Falmouth" (less quotes) as the search query.
Book 3 is not available because it was lost during a fire on October 6, 1849. Details about this incident appear in the Oct. 9 issue of the Portland Advertiser.
